There are times, apparently, when a man’s thoughts turn to wondering what brand of underwear would produce the optimum suggestion of his genitals to an observer.
That time, though, is probably not while reading how various (male) Hollywood muckety-mucks have had it up to here with Harvey Weinstein.
Mark Ruffalo, George Clooney, Kevin Smith – all decided it was time to “call out” Harvey Weinstein in this story in the New York Daily News.
Miles Teller, star of Whiplash, added his thoughts to the chorus of indignation.
“It’s 2017,” he observed, “and we need to get over that shit. It’s not cool.”
Perhaps to help the healing process along, the Daily News website has placed alongside the story an advert for Newchic underpants, with the slogan “Have a pouch”.
Because at times of introspection around sexual abuse in the movie industry, it helps to balance it with a meditation on the state of one’s package.
Clicking on the ad reveals the following description of the garment: “Arrow Pants Casual Sexy Home Low Waist Cotton Inside Pouch Breathable Boxers for Men.”
Such a mouthful, and perfect for those moments when a marquee star is trying to find the words to communicate his disgust at the antics of his industry’s icons.
And the words Ryan Murphy (creator of “American Horror Story”) found were these:
“I know my way around an Oscar-winning lady or two, and whenever he (HW) would come up in conversation, there was always this ‘ick’ or ‘ugh’ type of reaction. All of the women I spoke to would say that. All of them. I wondered what was up with that.”
Guys – stay strong, and have a pouch.
